Ronald J. Kensey is founder and president of Kennon Products,Inc. Kennon is an employee owned company (ESOP) that started out of a home garage in 1984. In 1989 Kensey moved the company from the Los Angeles, California area to Sheridan, Wyoming. The company employs 45.
Kennon protects high value assets. The company’s primary focus is to reduce or eliminate damage caused by weather, dust, moisture, corrosion, sunlight, heat and other environmental factors that can cause expensive repairs. Kennon accomplishes this by properly engineering and constructing covers using technical fabrics and materials, and expert fabrication methods. The company’s engineering team is also engaged in problem solving and product development through the nation’s Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) program.
Ron’s first business was a roadside vegetable stand. His father taught him how to keep customers coming back by providing them with only the very freshest produce. He remembers his dad showing him how to turn a quart of strawberries upside down into an empty quart basket to show the customer that the berries at the bottom were as nice as the ones on the top. Ron has built a successful manufacturing company by employing many the values leaned at an early age.
Ron began his professional working career with the American Heart Association in 1972 after graduating SUNY, Canton with an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration. During his 17-year career with American Heart he served in numerous capacities including Affiliate Program Director (Alabama), National Program Representative (southern area), Special Assistant to the Executive Vice President (national organization), Vice President, Development (Los Angeles Affiliate) and Deputy Executive Vice President, (Los Angeles Affiliate).
Ron is active in his community, state and nation. Following the breakup of the former Soviet Union, Ron led business teams to Eastern Europe to teach the principals of “free enterprise” to those who were familiar only with the communist system. As a team leader for Global Volunteers, he led volunteers to Kazakhstan, Poland, Ukraine, Viet Nam, China, and Italy.
Ron is past president of the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce, past-chairman of the board the WYO Theater and member of numerous of other non-profit boards including Global Volunteers International Board of Directors.
Ron is a member of the Wyoming Business Council appointed by Governor Mead in 2017
